Rural Development Programme Report - June 2010

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Namaskar.

The report for the activities, conducted by VKRDP, during the month of JUNE 2010 is detailed below, for your kind information:

1. Through 75 Balwadis, 1,767 rural Children were nurtured. In the Balwadis, Malt, Hygienically prepared highly nutritive lunch were served, with vegetables, and evening vitamin rich cereals were provided to the children.

2. In Medicare Programme, 1,185 patients were examined and treated for various common ailments, through 15 Rural Medical C entres.

3. In 211 Samskara Vargas, 6,854 students participated. The students were taught about the values of Indian Culture, through games and lessons. The feelings of oneness are strengthened among participants, through patriotic songs and games.

4. Under Sponsor A Grand Parent Programme, 62 destitutes - old people were provided with monthly solatium, in the form of rice, dhal, oil, etc., for their livelihood.

1. Through 75 Balwadis, 1,745 rural Children were nurtured. In the Balwadis, Malt, Hygienically prepared highly nutritive lunch were served, with vegetables, and evening vitamin rich cereals were provided to the children.

2. In Medicare Programme, 1,400 patients were examined and treated for various common ailments, through 15 Rural Medical Centres.

3 In 218 Samskara Vargas, 6,552 students participated. The students were taught about the values of Indian Culture, through games and lessons. The feelings of oneness are strengthened among participants, through patriotic songs and games.

4. Under Sponsor A Grand Parent Programme, 62 destitutes - old people were provided with monthly solatium, in the form of rice, dhal, oil, etc., for their livelihood.

1. Research Centre Recognition

The Dibrugarh University has granted recognition as a Research Centre to Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture with effect from 24th September 2009.

The notification by Dibrugarh University explicitly states the purpose as “The Institute [VKIC] has constantly striven to examine and validate the systems from our point of view so that culture becomes the foundation of development. It is an endeavour that all seminars and field investigations the basis of which is research is conducted not to replicate west centric scholarship but to present matters befitting the magnitude of our traditions”.

1. Through 75 Balwadis, 2,061 rural Children were nurtured. In the Balwadis, Malt, Hygienically prepared highly nutritive lunch were served, with vegetables, and evening vitamin rich cereals were provided to the children.

2. In Medicare Programme, 1,751 patients were examined and treated for various common ailments, through 15 Rural Medical Centres.

3 In 225 Samskara Vargas, 7,178 students participated. The students were taught about the values of Indian Culture, through games and lessons. The feelings of oneness are strengthened among participants, through patriotic songs and games.

4. Under Sponsor A Grand Parent Programme, 62 destitutes - old people were provided with monthly solatium, in the form of rice, dhal, oil, etc., for their livelihood.

1. Through 75 Balwadis, 2,084 rural Children were nurtured. In the Balwadis, Malt, Hygienically prepared highly nutritive lunch were served, with vegetables, and evening vitamin rich cereals were provided to the children.

2. In Medicare Programme, 2,856 patients were examined and treated for various common ailments, through 15 Rural Medical Centres.

3. In 235 Samskara Vargas, 8,070 students participated. The students were taught about the values of Indian Culture, through games and lessons. The feelings of oneness are strengthened among participants, through patriotic songs and games.

4. Under Sponsor A Grand Parent Programme, 62 destitutes - old people were provided with monthly solatium, in the form of rice, dhal, oil, etc., for their livelihood.

Vivekananda International Foundation was inaugurated on 1st Dec. 2009

Vivekananada Kendra A grand ceremony which marked the inauguration of Vivekananda International Foundation was held in its premises at 4.30 pm on 1st December 09. The revered Mata Amritanandamayi showering her benedictions on the Ftion was the main feature of the inauguration ceremony. Justice M.N Venkatachaliah, the former Chief Justice of India, delivered key-note address. Smt Vani Jairam, the famous classical singer was also present in the inauguration ceremony.

Vimarsha, the monthly discussion session of Vivekananda Kendra International was held in the premises of Vivekananda Kendra International at 6.30 pm on 30th October 09. The Vimarsha started with the chanting of the Vedic mantras. Shri Ajit Doval, the honorary director of Vivekananda Kendra International introduced the topic and Shri Prakash Singh IPS, the speaker. Mananeeya Nivedita Didi, the honorable vice-president of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari chaired the session.

VIMARSHA : Probity in public life

Vimarsha, the monthly discussion session of Vivekananda Kendra International was conducted in the premises of Vivekananda Kendra International at 6.30 pm on 30th September. Shri Bhure Lal (IAS Retd), currently the chairman of the pollution control board was the speaker and ‘Probity in Public life’ was the topic of the session. The Vimarsha started as usual with the chanting of the Vedic invocations by Shri Indraprakash. Shri C.V. Gopinath introduced the speaker and the topic of the Vimarsh to the audience.

Vimarsh on China, July 2009Vimarsh, the monthly discussion session of Vivekananda Kendra International, was held in its premises at 6.30 pm on 24th July 09. Sri Ajit Doval, the honourary director of VKI introduced the topic and the speakers, Sri T.C.A Rangachari and General J.F Jacob. General Jacob initiated the discussion and gave a brief account of his experiences with the Chinese.

VIMARSH- INDIAN POLITY: WHERE ARE WE HEADED?

Vimarsh, the monthly discussion session of Vivekananda Kendra International was held in its premises at 6.30 pm on 25th June 09. Sri Ajit Doval, the honourary director of Vivekananda Kendra International, gave a brief introduction of the topic of the day and the speaker, Sri Govindacharya. Sri Dovalji explained that the individual, the society and the political thoughts along with the values constituted the radii of concentric circles which converge to a common centre, that was our national consciousness. The political tenets prevalent in the society not only decide the strategic future of the nation, but also give an orientation to it.
